Room Roles
What are the room roles in Keet?
Keet has three room roles: Peer, Moderator, Admin.
Peer:
Can delete your own messages.
Can invite others to join as Peers.
Moderator:
Can change room name and room avatar.
Can delete messages in the group.
Can enable/disable calls in the room.
Can invite others to join the room as a Moderator.
Administrator:
Can change room name and room avatar.
Can delete messages in the group.
Can enable/disable calls in the room.
Can invite others to join as room Moderators/Admins.
Have a responsibility to be frequently online to improve the room performance.
Note: The room creator is automatically assigned the role of Admin.
Can I change the room roles within the room?
You get assigned a particular role using a specific invitation link. Refer to room roles to know more.
The assigned roles can be changed. Here is how to do it:
Upgrade a member from Peer to Moderator:
Open Keet, enter the room where you want to change the member’s role.
Open room info by clicking the room name on the top left > Admins and moderators > Members permissions.
You’ll see all the members of this room with the roles assigned to them.
To change their role, click on the member name to open Manage member card and locate Member’s role dropdown.
Choose “Moderator”, acknowledge the moderator capabilities, and click “Make room moderator”.
Downgrade a member from Moderator to Peer:
Open Keet, enter the room where you want to change the member’s role.
Open room info by clicking the room name on the top left > Admins and moderators > Members permissions.
You’ll see all the members of this room with the roles assigned to them.
To change their role, click on the member name to open Manage member card and locate Member’s role dropdown.
Choose “Peer”, and click “Downgrade”. It will remove all the moderator’s capabilities from the member.
Upgrade a member to an Admin:
Open Keet, enter the room where you want to add the next Admin.
Use the “Invite someone to” button next to the room name to share the room link with others. More info here.
In the “Invite type” select “Admin”, acknowledge and accept Admin rules and click “Generate invite”.
Share the invite link with the user or use the generated QR code that other peers can scan to join.
Downgrade a member from Admin to Peer or Moderator:
Open Keet, enter the room where you want to change the member’s role.
Open room info by clicking the room name on the top left > Admins and moderators > Members permissions.
You’ll see all the members of this room with the roles assigned to them.
To change their role, click on the member name to open Manage member card and locate Member’s role dropdown.
Choose “Peer” or “Moderator”, and click “Downgrade”. It will remove all the admin’s capabilities from the member.
